fac·ture [fak-cher]  - noun

1. the act, process, or manner of making anything; construction.

2. the thing made.

Facture began while watching terrible reality television during a midwestern winter storm.

My name is Aron Fischer, creator of Facture.  I am a fourth generation maker, tinkerer, woodworker and artist.  I grew up watching my family turn spindles on a rickety homemade lathe in our barn, eating deliciously rustic homegrown meals, and growing anything and everything you can imagine in the family garden.  These past experiences have fueled my insatiable hunger for functional, well made wares.

Does the world need yet ANOTHER blog?!

studio interior if you are reading have realized that I too have begun a blog (no I'm not a blogger...yet)  Why?  Well...I get asked a lot of questions, so I thought it might be helpful to have a specific place for everyone to see, and maybe learn, a little more about what I do.  Maybe it will even become a bit of a resource for makers that are just getting started (god I would have loooooooved that).  Why not, right?!

Some of your questions have to do with the work that I make (for much time a piece takes to make form beginning to end, the specific glazes and finishes I use, etc.), while others have to do with the business side of things (how do you ship your work, how do you price your work, can you give me the secrets to being successful as an artist, etc. etc.), and some are just about my tattoo's and my personal life.  All are valid and welcomed!!

BUT... I don't plan to keep this blog as a strictly self-serving platform.  I plan to use this as a way to not only talk about my work, but as a way to highlight some really incredible makers, stylists, food bloggers,  and creatives that you may not normally have access to!  Hey...if you want me to highlight your me! So stay tuned.
